Glomerular mesangial cells are a kind of glomerular intrinsic cell located between the glomerular capillary loops and adjacent to endothelial cells or basement membrane. Due to their irregular morphology, cell protrusion can reach deep between endothelial cells and basement membrane, or extend into the capillary lumen between endothelial cells.
