    ▞ Product Description:

    The test uses histidine-deficient Salmonella Typhimurium strains or tryptophan-deficient Escherichia Coli strains. Because these mutant strains are unable to synthesize histidine or tryptophan on their own, they must rely on exogeneous histidine/tryptophan for growth  as they cannot survive on selective media without histidine/tryptophan. When the mutagen is present, it causes a reverse mutation in the strain’s gene and transforms it from a nutrient-deficient strain to a wild-type that is able to grow and form visible colonies even on histidine/tryptophan deficient media. 
    The Genotoxicity Ames Test Kit-5 Bacteria Version from IPHASE is the standard for efficient, reliable and accurate assessment of the mutagenic effect of the test substance, which detects changes in colony counts using nutrient-deficient Salmonella typhimurium TA97a, TA98, TA100, TA1535 or nutrient-deficient Escherichia coli WP2 uvrA (pKM101) as indicators.
